Boone County Office of Emergency Management Offers Incident Command Training

COLUMBIA, Mo. (October 21, 2025) - The Boone County Office of Emergency Management (BCOEM) will offer a free ICS 300: Intermediate Incident Command for Expanding Incidents course from December 17–19. This in-person training helps supervisory personnel manage the complex demands of growing emergencies. The Incident Command System (ICS) is a nationwide best practice, tested in emergencies ranging from small local incidents to large-scale events of national significance. Participants will learn how to organize command roles, assign responsibilities, and adapt to longer, multi-day incidents. These techniques, used by many agencies across the country, can also enhance everyday operations.

Prerequisites:

  • FEMA Independent Study (IS) ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 courses are required.
  • All prerequisites can easily be taken on the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Emergency Management Institute Website at https://training.fema.gov/is/crslist.aspx. *Government Shutdown May Affect Access.

Further information and registration for this ICS-300 course can be found on the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) training website. Go to https://sematraining.com/ and click on “Trainings” or use the direct link, https://sematraining.com/courses/2085/offerings/14640.
