Outdoor Warning Siren Test Canceled Due to High Wind Warning
COLUMBIA, Mo. (March 5, 2025) - The Boone County Office of Emergency Management (BCOEM) has announced that today's scheduled outdoor warning siren test is canceled due to a High Wind Warning issued by the National Weather Service. Although originally planned as part of Severe Weather Preparedness Week, BCOEM opted to cancel the test out of an abundance of caution. The next scheduled siren test will take place on April 2, 2025, at 12:00 p.m.
The National Weather Service will still test NOAA Weather Radios at 11:00 a.m. as previously planned.
BCOEM encourages residents to use this opportunity to identify a safe place-at home or at work-to prepare for severe weather. The agency remains committed to promoting severe weather awareness and preparedness and urges community members to review their emergency plans to ensure they know how to respond when severe weather strikes.
